The police has confirmed the death of Michael Adikwu, the prime suspect of the Offa bank robbery – Following the confirmation of Adikwu’s death, the case involving five other suspects has been adjourned to Friday, November 30 – The move for the adjournment of the case was forwarded by the Kwara state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Kamaldeen Ajibade Five of the six Offa bank robbery suspects appeared before an Ilorin high court on Wednesday, November 21, without the prime suspect, Michael Adikwu. The lead prosecuting counsel who is also the Kwara state attorney-general and commissioner for justice, Kamaldeen Ajibade told the court that the police headquarters revealed that Adikwu is dead, TVC News reports the director of public prosecution spoke with deputy commissioner of police Abba Kyari who confirmed that Adikwu is dead. Ajibade requested for adjournment of the case for a proper amendment to the charge sheet following Adikwu’s death. Speaking at the court, the suspects said that they were served on Monday, November 19, but since there was a public holiday on Tuesday, they could not get any lawyer to stand for their defence. Promising an accelerated hearing, the trial judge, Halima Salman, adjourned the case to Friday, November 30. The suspects are standing trial over Offa bank robbery in April 2018, where more than 30 persons including policemen were killed. Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the police had released the full list of suspects arrested in connection with April 5 multiple bank robbery in Offa Kwara state, during which 33 persons, including nine policemen, were killed. Going further, the police also released a list of all the exhibits recovered, banks and police station attacked during the robbery.
