Scaloni happy to see Icardi and Dybala return to scoring form.

The Serie A stars both netted their first Argentina goals and the Albiceleste boss was thrilled to see them strike

Argentina interim coach Lionel Scaloni was delighted to see both Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi score their first international goals.

The Serie A stars helped Argentina to a 2-0 friendly win over Mexico in Mendoza on Tuesday, their second win over the CONCACAF nation in as many outings.

Inter star Icardi produced a fine finish in the second minute to open the scoring, cutting between two defenders before finding his first Argentina goal.

Dybala sealed the result late on with a fine finish of his own as the Albiceleste struck on the on the counter-attack.

It was Icardi’s first in eight games, while Dybala struck for his country for the first time in his 18th appearance.

“We have to be happy because two players as important as Icardi and Dybala were unlocked,” Scaloni said.

“They will give the fans a lot of joy.”

Scaloni, who has strengthened his case to take over the Argentina post full time, was satisfied with his team’s performance after ringing the changes for the second match against El Tri.

“It was difficult. We played with a lot of changes. We are happy because they all played, that was the goal,” he said.

“I believe that with the changes the team let go more.”

Having two of the side’s underperforming players net in the same match will be another boost to the 40-year-old, who has lost just one of his six matches in charge, winning four, despite playing without superstar Lionel Messi.

And the former Deportivo La Coruna star has received the backing of goal scorer Icardi, who is pleased with the way things are going under the interim boss and his staff.

“I’m really happy,” he told  TyC SSports.Beyond the goal I’m happy for these six games, for the players.

“We gave our best to grow and put something together. I’m really happy to have closed out the year with a victory.

“We’re really happy with everyone, with Leo (Scaloni), Walter (Samuel), Pablo (Aimar) and the rest. The rest, the directors will decide.”
