Those 3 million Super Eagles jerseys should have been made by Aba tailors – Ben Bruce

In a series of tweets, the senator said the manufacturing should have been handled by Nigerians. He said if the contract had been given to a firm in Aba rather than Nike, more job opportunities would have been created.

According to him, if Nike had been persuaded to manufacture the jerseys in Nigeria instead of Asia, it would have been a win win situation for all. He added that everything is not politics as he was only trying to make common sense.Super Eagles official kit sponsors Nike confirmed that they received orders to produce about three million Super Eagles replicas for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The three-time African champions launched the jersey they will wear in Russia, a couple of months back in London. They used the jersey in their international friendly games against Poland and Serbia in March – in which they defeated the Polish national team but weren’t strong enough to avoid defeat against the Serbians.
